This one has been a long time coming. I’ve been really looking forward to doing it. This is my old college buddy, Nina Osegueda-Austin. Despite not seeing her very often, as we’re both very busy people, she’s still one of my best friends, and we still do our best to involve eachother in important steps in our lives, such as me being her Maid of Honor. I. Hate. Ganguro. i know people that think anything japanese is amazing and beautiful, and in a sense, i find it flattering. But honestly, I do not find Ganguro likeable in any sense. I can understand japanese girls having an outlet to be strong and independent and not caring what people (specifically men) think. I can certainly relate. Man, what a freaking day. My initials plan for this picture was to draw my old studio set up. I’ve been tripping over a picture of it all week, and the minute i need it, POOF. I was raised with martial arts. My father, who is japanese and grew up on Guam, is the one that taught me how to defend myself. I kind of fell out of practice when i got into the last couple years of college. This covers a couple of points: 1) I have been commissioning bellydance costume pieces becuase i’m sick of making them myself. The skirt and belt should be waiting for me when i get back to DC. The top (vest and bra) and head piece are pending. Need to look into new boots tho. god bless etsy. Also, i’m looking into getting some irezumi ink done. Day 11: Turning Point

I feel like i should do more to it, but i’m not sure what i would do. The hand is smaller than the rest of the drawings i’ve done like this, but for the purpose of composition, i had to make some compromises. I’ve had lots of turning points, all of them violent, or extremely negative, or incredibly heart breaking.
